This 9 Days Primate Trekking and Wildlife safari is a special luxury experience that covers the Big 5 and best of Uganda. Best when done by a group of 4 to 6 people however even an individual person would still appreciate the safari if booked for alone.
Trekking the jewel of the Pearl being Gorillas and Chimpanzee then game drives to showcase wild game in the biggest national park Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth. The Big five are symbolic in Africa as the ultimate expectations while on a Safari and this 9 Days Primate Trekking and Wildlife Safari offers this opportunity. These being Lions, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard are all inclusive on this Safari while on the numerous game drives.
While at it for the game drive, we change diversify activity to Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park where we have one of the highest concentration number of chimpanzees in Africa. This is a wonderful experience as we trek our closest relatives in Primates family.
However, something of not is saved for last which is Gorilla trekking in the misty impenetrable forest of Bwindi. As one would say the rest stays to your imagination but not comparable to any.
Expectations
A luxury Safari offering the best of Uganda as it covers four major parks all offering something different from the other. The Big 5 animals are covered in this combo of activities then adding the Primates; Gorillas and Chimpanzee. Surely one wouldn’t ask for more after this 9 day experience.
Tour Plan
Some people arrive the day before which means the safari starts at the hotel after breakfast. However, some arrive early morning which would mean starting at the airport. We drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park enroute we stop over the Rhino Sanctuary where you will have an opportunity to trek Rhinos.
This is a Rhino sanctuary where we have 15 Rhinos which were reintroduced after their extinction in the 1970s through poaching.
Rangers guide us on foot to an up-close encounter with the rhinos and it may take about 1 and half hours. We then proceed to Murchison Falls through Masindi Town arriving at our lodge late afternoon on this 9 days Luxury Primate Trekking and Wildlife Safari.
Depednig on the arrival time, we may drive to the top of the falls for a fascinating view of the water as it squeezes into a narrow gap. Several beautiful photos are taken at this point.

The best times for a game drive are early morning or the evenings. In this case we wake up early in the morning for our morning game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile in our open-roof vehicle which will give you an excellent opportunity to view and photograph the diverse wildlife.
The ranger/guide will help you spot elephants, lions, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. This goes on until late morning after which we return to our Lodge.
After lunch, go for a boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just few of meters from the bottom of the falls. While on the ride we are able to see schools of hippos, crocodiles and over the 18km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck, buffalos and Uganda Kob all on this on 9 days Luxury Primates Trekking and Wildlife Safari Uganda.
While on this we also get a chance to see many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.
After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls, you may choose to hike to the top of the falls, where you will have the amazing view of the falls! this hike requires some endurance but worth it just in case we didn’t get to it the day before.

We enjoy a morning breakfast then begin our journey for Kibale Forest National Park.
Drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside passing through traditional homesteads, farms and Tea Estates.
We will have a stopover for lunch en-route then proceed arriving at the lodge in the late afternoon.
We may have an evening hike in the communities enjoying the traditional and cultural set up of the village around the lodge. Then prepare for dinner and an overnight.

We trek for chimpanzee near Kanyanchu. Chimps live in communities of about 100 individuals; learn about the physical and behavioral aspects we share in common.
While at it, we are able to see more primates such the golden monkey, olive baboons, red Colobus, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey and blue monkeys.
Later unlike for the previous day we explore the village of Bigodi accompanied by one of our professional English-speaking field-guides.
We will visit the homes in communities where the elderly tell interesting stories about birth, marriage, ceremonies, clans and their traditional life. We learn about the history and issues that they face as a developing community of rural Uganda.
the visit to the local communities gives us a chance to learn about various cultural and society practices. It’s a very interesting interaction.

After breakfast, we proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range.
These parks (Kibale and Queen) are not far apart from each other however they are different. We leave a forested park into the savannah park with expectation to see various animals.
Upon arriving at your lodge, you will enjoy a hot lunch and later in the afternoon take a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward.
This boat ride takes you through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and this offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and tremendous, with well over 550 resident species all on this 9 days Primates Trekking and Wildlife Safari.

We set off early and begin the day with a game drive in the Kasenyi plains that may lead you to see bush buck, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, and Cape buffaloes, Lions, elephants and many more. If we lucky, the rare Leopard can be seen while having the game drive.
We return to the lodge for a late breakfast, then set of for the Ishasha sector which is the Southern part of Queen Elizabeth NP and commonly known for the rare Tree climbing lions.
On arrival, we have lunch and prepare for an afternoon/evening game drive on which we expect to see the lions up the trees as the sun is till up. While on this game drive we also see other animals such as the elephants, buffaloes and antelopes among others.
Return at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

We have breakfast then set off for another morning game drive giving us an opportunity to see what we may have missed in the evening game drive.
After the game drive we proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; Home of the Mountain Gorillas.
Bwindi Forest has mist-covered hillsides that are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. On arrival at our lodge, we have lunch, relax, after which we may visit the indigenous Batwa pigmy community. We learn about their beautiful way of life and later get to enjoy their cultural dances and music.
Well aware of our day ahead, we retire early to our lodge for dinner and overnight as we prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience.

We get an early breakfast then depart to the starting point for briefing about our gorilla trekking experience. After this we set off into the thick forest in search for a particular Gorilla group.
We will trek until the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before and from here the gorilla tracking begins.
This hike can be physically demanding, however the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing. Once we get to the group, It is a humbling experience being so close from these very gentle giants as they eat, rest, play and bond with their young ones. The one hour we spend with them may seem too short because of the unlimited desire to stay and watch them longer.
After the trekking, we receive participation certificates and drive back to our lodge a happy group.

This is our final day After a great 8 Days of experiences on which we have breakfast and set off for a return journey to the city. Depending on our flight schedule back home, we may head straight to the airport or have an extra night in the city before departure the following day.
However, enroute we stop over at the Equator for one more experience of standing in two (2) hemispheres at the same time. Its good spot for photography before we continue to the city arriving late afternoon.
